This reality of perseverance is interesting.  Paul said in Romans 5:3-4:

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

In the book of James 1:2-4:

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

And again in James 1:12:

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”

In these 3 passages perseverance is something that is precious and valuable. Perseverance creates: Character; Maturity; Wholeness; Completeness; Hope; A life lived worthy of the calling you received; And the assurance of the crown of life God promised to those who love him.

To say it another way: Perseverance causes you to become everything you are created to be and guarantees your reward.

What is perseverance?  Perseverance defined: persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

This is very important to understand.  Perseverance is only necessary when you are working towards a desired end.  Perseverance enables you to achieve your goal, vision and purpose.

Without vision man casts off restraint (Proverbs 29:18).  Restraint is discipline, patient endurance, holding a course, perseverance.  Vision is the future destination. If you don’t have a destination you have no need for restraint.  Vision demands restraint because there is a process to reach your desired end that necessitates, persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success (perseverance). Paul said, “we GLORY in our sufferings because it produces perseverance.” James said, “Consider it pure JOY whenever you face trials of many kinds because the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” And again, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial.” Perseverance is the sign that your end is secure.

Just saying Perseverance is kind of sexy!
