In Romans 8:31-39 Paul says,
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
This is interesting. God is for us not against us. We have been justified. “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” Follow this, Paul is saying that when you find yourself in persecution, in famine, naked, in danger or under the sword; these circumstances didn’t come from God. But they are proof that you are in him.
“For your sake we face death all day long.” “For your sake,” This has everything to do with Identity, Purpose and Vision in God. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12
Then Paul goes on and says, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The point is this, if and when you find yourself in death or circumstances of life, with angels or demons. Things now or things in the future. Things with power, things high or things low, or anything else in all creation, God is in you, with you and for you. He is not standing in front of you to oppose you.
The circumstances in life do not dictate our position in God. Our position in God dictates how we respond to the circumstances and situations we some across.
