In 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 Paul is talking about the gifts of the Spirit. He says,
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”
Paul says, “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” The manifestation of the Spirit was given to each one. The use of our God given gifts that he gave as He saw fit demonstrate who God is to the people we serve.
In Isaiah 61:3 says,
“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. “
A planting of the Lord. God as he saw fit called us for the purpose of displaying his splendor. God’s will is accomplished through the cooperation of man. There was a reason Jesus came as a man.
Jesus said in Matthew 28:18-19
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Jesus said you go in my authority and make disciples of all nations. You teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. The more this truth takes root inside our guts the more we will understand and live from identity. Understanding that we are the citizens of heaven on earth to represent the one who sent us will cause us to display his splendor on purpose. God gave us gifts for the explicit purpose to use them for the common good. This means that each one of us is valuable and necessary. It also means that each one of us has a purpose. And your gift has everything to do with what you are called to do.
We are responsible and well equipped to demonstrate to this world who God is. It is our Job to manifest the glory, splendor and goodness of God.
Let your light so shine before men that they see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven. Come on somebody, go get your manifestation on!
