In Acts 8 Stephen was stoned and his death brought about a movement of great persecution. Everyone but the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. The apostles stayed in Jerusalem. Those who were scattered preached the word wherever they went.

“Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there.  When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said.  For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.  So there was great joy in that city.” Acts 8:5-8

One man brings the reality of the kingdom of heaven and a whole city experiences great joy.  Philip proclaimed the Messiah and performed signs. Philip didn’t come with empty words, he came with the power.

There was a man named Simon who practiced sorcery and amazed all the people. Everyone of all stature and status exclaimed, “This man is rightly call the Great Power of God.” But when Philip showed up with the kingdom of heaven, people were set free from demons, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. Even Simon believed and was baptized.

One man, who set out on purpose to solved real world problems with kingdom solutions, affected an entire city. “The kingdom of God is not a matter of words but of power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20
