A citizen of a country has access to rights and privileges that a foreigner does not.  For example When I went to Australia I needed a visa. This visa gave me permission to live in the country for 2 years.  I did not have access to get a job to earn money. There are forms that you can fill out that can grant you short term access but they are not obligated to grant you anything.  As a foreigner I don’t have the same rights and privileges as a citizen. When a citizen is of age they have access to work and make as much money as they want. That is their right and privilege.

When we become born again we become citizens of heaven. We become the home of the Spirit of God.  This process reconnects us to heaven. This gives us access to the rights and privileges of heaven.  Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 1:7,

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”

We have access to live in power, love and self-discipline.  Now having access is not the same thing as accessing what you have access to.  It’s possible to live in fear and timidity all the while having access to something better.  Growing in knowledge creates awareness to what we have access to. Application of that knowledge creates experience in our rights and privileges.  It’s in exercising our kingdom reality on earth that we really grow in maturity in the knowledge of God. This is what is means to be an ambassador.

An ambassador in a kingdom is hand picked by the king.  Paul said it like this in Romans 8:29-30,

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.  And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”

Jesus said it like this in John 15:16-17

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.  This is my command: Love each other.”

Paul said those God predestined (whose destination was considered before they were made) he called, justified and glorified.  This is the position that we have access to and are called to live in.

Jesus said you didn’t choose me, I chose you and appointed you to bear fruit.  Then he said that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. Jesus gave us responsibility.  Responsibility is the response to your ability. Jesus said you have access to the Father through me. Now here is what is really interesting, if we need to tap into our access to the father to complete our assignment, that means that we are unable to do it ourselves.  For example, if you run into somebody who is hungry you don’t need to ask for help to make a sandwich. But if you run into somebody who has one leg that is shorter than the other one, it is time to tap into what we have access to. Meaning we are called to make the impossible possible.  That is a kingdom ambassador.
