Ambassadors are experts in all things pertaining to the kingdom that they are commissioned by. You can’t very well represent something you don’t know anything about. I really like this reality because it sheds light on our potential and responsibility for growing in knowledge, understanding and experience. If ignorance is likened to darkness and knowledge is likened to light, then the kingdom of darkness thrives on ignorance. While the kingdom of light reigns in knowledge.
In 2 Peter 1:3 it says,
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
It’s in the knowledge of God that we discover that we have everything we need to thrive in this life.
An ambassador represents the king, meaning he has the authority of the king. An ambassador never speaks his own opinion, because he represents the king, he only speaks about the king’s opinions and views. Otherwise he would cease to be a representative.
In John 5:19-23 Jesus says,
“Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. “
Jesus says that he does nothing by himself but does only what he sees the Father doing. The Father entrusted judgment to the Son, meaning the Son has the Authority of the Father. The Son is the representation of the Father therefore if any one honors the Son they honor the Father. Likewise if anyone dishonors the Son they dishonor the Father. This is because when you are talking to the Son you are talking to the Father.
In John 14:6-11
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.”
Jesus said, “Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.” Jesus’ works and words where the works and words of the Father. The Father’s works and words where the works and words of Jesus. Jesus was the representative of the Father on earth. Which is why he only said and did what the Father said and did.
Jesus is the model our lives are to be conformed to. He became like us so we could become like him. Jesus said it like this in John 20:21-23
“Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” Jesus was the exact representation of the father, who’s works and words where from the Father. Basically Jesus’ term on earth was up and we are the replacements. Jesus was the firstborn of many brothers and sisters. We are the brothers and sisters. And representing the kingdom of heaven on earth is the family business.
