Energy has a vital role in realizing your potential and living on purpose. Energy is defined as the strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity. Our energy is connected to our attitude, physical and mental (emotional) health.
Nothing drains energy like a bad attitude. Our attitude is a reflection and outward expression of our perspective on life or a particular thing. Meaning if your perspective sucks it is expressed in your attitude. Or to say it another way if your attitude sucks it’s because your perspective is working against you.
In regards to our attitude Jesus said it like this in Matthew 5:38-41
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.”
To be able to offer someone the other cheek instead of punching them in the face requires a certain kind of perspective. If someone wants to take your shirt give them your coat as well; each time someone takes something by force you end by deliberately giving them more. If someone makes you go one mile, go with them two miles. People take, fight and force their will on others from a certain kind of perspective. People who give freely and more than is required, live from a different perspective. People who give in this way don’t believe in shortages. That kind of perspective fuels massive amounts of energy
Regular physical activity has a positive effect on the energy of the body as well as many necessary benefits on the mind. If you have ever found yourself feeling blah and then you did some physical activity that got your heart rate up, and you felt mentally and physically better, it’s because you got your blood pumping through your whole body. There are chemicals that are released that clear the mind and energizes the body. Regular exercise is important to high energy.
The thoughts you regularly think definitely have an effect on your energy. If you are constantly downcast, you need to become aware of the thoughts you are thinking. Negative perspectives suck the energy right out of your body. While hope, faith, joy and love give you an abundance of energy to live and handle any situation in life.
Knowing what creates, maintains, sustains and increases your energy gives you the ability to create certain disciplines that keep your energy high. If you regularly exercise physically, mentally and spiritually, then you will maximize your energy to fulfill your purpose and live a life of meaning. Consistent growth is the answer to a life full of energy.
