Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:18-21
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
Paul says, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.”
An ambassador is an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country.
In Philippians 3:20-21 Paul says,
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.”
When we become born again among other things we become citizens of heaven. A citizen is a legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized. a native or naturalized person who owes allegiance to a government and is entitled to protection from it. I talk more about this topic in my video called “Being Born Again”.
When we become born again we are restored as native citizens of heaven and at the same time we are commissioned as ambassadors on earth. Our assignment is to establish the government of heaven on earth. Meaning the earth should be conformed to function like heaven.
Jesus said it like this in Matthew 6:9-10
“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. God’s will for earth is to function like heaven. It is for this reason we are ambassadors from heaven on earth.
